{"id":116093,"date":"2017-03-14T15:08:55","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T13:08:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=116093"},"modified":"2017-03-14T15:09:50","modified_gmt":"2017-03-14T13:09:50","slug":"the-price-of-solid-state-drives-is-set-to-increase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/hardware\/116093-the-price-of-solid-state-drives-is-set-to-increase","title":{"rendered":"The price of solid state drives is set to increase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/press.trendforce.com\/press\/20170313-2776.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>DRAMeXchange reported<\/strong><\/a> that client-grade SSDs of mainstream capacities continued to see rising prices in the PC-OEM market during the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>On average, prices of MLC-based client-grade SSDs are projected to go up by 12% to 16% compared to the fourth quarter of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The prices of TLC-based products are expected to increase by 10% to 16%.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0the second quarter, end device sales are anticipated to be relatively flat.<\/p>\n<p>While the average price of mainstream client-grade SSDs will climb, the increase in the second quarter will be more moderate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAverage contract prices of client-grade SSDs in the PC-OEM market are rising because PC clients are aggressively stocking up their inventories, and smartphone clients are also maintaining strong demand for storage components,\u201d said Alan Chen at DRAMeXchange.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe industry-wide transition to 3D-NAND and 2D-NAND TLC production has sharply reduced the supply of Flash memory of the 2D-NAND MLC type.
