{"id":11616,"date":"2011-05-06T14:40:00","date_gmt":"2011-05-06T12:40:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"telkom-dsl512-speed-upgrades-to-1mbps-begin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/11616-telkom-dsl512-speed-upgrades-to-1mbps-begin","title":{"rendered":"Telkom DSL512 speed upgrades to 1Mbps begin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MyBroadband recently reported that <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/adsl\/19860-Telkom-set-upgrade-ADSL-speeds.html\">Telkom was planning to upgrade<\/a> 512Kbps ADSL subscribers&rsquo; speeds to 1Mbps.<\/p>\n<p>To date Telkom did not provide details about the planned DSL512 speed  upgrades, but the company did confirm that the upgrade was on the  table.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Telkom CEO <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/210092-Pinky-Nombulelo-Moholi\" title=\"Pinky Moholi profile\">Pinky Moholi<\/a> also told MyBroadband in March 2011 that they are looking at enhancing  their DSL512 offering, and a free upgrade to 1 Mbps therefore makes  perfect sense.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/332040-Telkom-512-Kbps-upgrades-to-1-Mbps\">Some 512 Kbps ADSL subscribers have now informed MyBroadband<\/a> that their lines have been upgraded to 1Mbps. Uplink speeds were also upgraded &#8211; from the usual 256Kbps to 512Kbps.<\/p>\n<p>One DSL512 subscriber based in Cape Town&rsquo;s City Bowl region reported  that his line had been bumped up to 1Mbps last night. Another subscriber  in Durban&rsquo;s Sherwood area also confirmed the upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous other subscribers in Gauteng, Cape Town, Durban and Port  Elizabeth also confirmed that their 512 Kbps connections have been  upgraded to 1Mbps.<\/p>\n<p>Telkom was contacted regarding this issue, but the company could not immediately comment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/13136-Telkom-begins-to-upgrade-DSL512-users-to-1Mbps\" target=\"_self\" title=\"Telkom DSL512 speed upgrades to 1Mbps begin\"><strong>Telkom DSL512 speed upgrades to 1Mbps begin<\/strong><\/a> &lt;&lt; Have you been upgraded?
