{"id":116583,"date":"2017-04-05T15:44:11","date_gmt":"2017-04-05T13:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=116583"},"modified":"2017-04-05T15:47:25","modified_gmt":"2017-04-05T13:47:25","slug":"five-things-destiny-2-needs-to-be-a-true-successor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/116583-five-things-destiny-2-needs-to-be-a-true-successor","title":{"rendered":"Five things Destiny 2 needs to be a true successor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Destiny 2 is official, and fans of the series, like myself, cannot wait to get our hands on the game.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time in the series, PC gamers will also be able to explore the galaxy, as Bungie announced a PC version of the game that will launch alongside the console version.<\/p>\n<p>Destiny 2 will take players across new planets as they face off against the biggest threat they have seen.<\/p>\n<p>The Cabal army led by the infamous Ghaul, have been attacking planets one by one, and laying waste to all life on them. The Guardians now need to visit fimiliar places, as well as new locations, in order to recruit an army to fight back the Cabal threat.<\/p>\n<p>While this sounds all fun, there are a few things I can only hope Bungie work on in Destiny 2. As an avid Destiny player, I know there are a few things missing from the game, as well as features that need some improvement. Let&#8217;s take a look at everything the sequel needs in order to be a success.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Destiny 2 \u2013 \u201cRally the Troops\u201d Worldwide Reveal Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZJLAJVmggt0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">More RPG<\/h3>\n<p>The original Destiny did create a great splice between RPG, MMO, and FPS, but it lacked a little bit more RPG.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, your gear would determine your player stats in terms of intellect, and strength &#8211; but as far as your character growth, you were stuck behind gear without a way to enhance your character.<\/p>\n<p>Destiny 2 needs to focus more on classic RPG mechanics such as health stats, defense, skill power, speed, and more. The original, kind of left everyone equal at the end, with the same gear, and same stats, so a dedicated stat system would be a welcome addition.<\/p>\n<p>This could mean that some players would focus on a higher defence rating and tank enemies, while others are faster and more agile.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, there are specific classes in the game, but a more fine-tuned character, that you are able to fully customize and build, would pay tribute to a classic RPG system.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-116589\" src=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-4.jpg\" alt=\"Destiny 2 \" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-4.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-4-230x130.jpg 230w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-4-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-4-640x360.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Seamless social hubs<\/h3>\n<p>One thing that brought the original down, as the long loading times when going into social hubs. You would do your business on a planet, and always have to go back to the Tower or the Reef to turn it in or do your inventory business.<\/p>\n<p>Destiny 2 needs to fix this, and I hope it does.<\/p>\n<p>Other MMOs have dozens of towns and social areas in all locations, and there should be no reason we have to sit for 3-minutes and wait for a social area to load every time we want to go and decrypt our engrams.<\/p>\n<p>Destiny 2 needs a social hub for each planet, where we can easily travel to, get our business done, and move onto more exploring.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-116593\" src=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"Destiny 2 \" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-1.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-1-230x130.jpg 230w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-1-640x360.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Cross platform play<\/h3>\n<p>While this is more a dream than anything else, matchmaking in the original game was a bit lackluster at times.<\/p>\n<p>When the game launched it was never a problem to find PvP matches or Strikes, but as the game&#8217;s content ran dry, you would wait for good 10-minutes before filling up a roster for a Crucible match.<\/p>\n<p>If we had console cross platform play, then this would eliminate the dry server issues during non-peak times. We know the weekly resets take place on Tuesday, but by Thursday everyone has done their weekly content, and it is hard to find a strike team, and even a PvP match.<\/p>\n<p>Adding Xbox One players onto the PS4 server would be a blessing, but now with the game releasing on PC, where do they fit in? That is the challenge that cross platform play has now with Destiny 2.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-116587\" src=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-3.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-3-230x130.jpg 230w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-3-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Destiny-2-3-640x360.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Larger planets<\/h3>\n<p>While Destiny had some of the most well-imagined adaptions to date with regard to interstellar exploration, the planets still felt a bit empty and small. With a few hubs on each planet, it never felt like you were in the middle of uncharted territory.<\/p>\n<p>Destiny 2 needs to expand every location beyond anything Bungie have done, and really bring out the idea that you are on a distant planet. There was also not much to do on each planet.<\/p>\n<p>You would drop at a certain spot, and rush to your objective, get it done and leave.<\/p>\n<p>All I hope for is that there are more places to explore, caves to venture into, and more aliens to toss sticky grenades at. If you do not have a raid team, or a specific team for a mission, then you can join an activity finder that will help you search for the team you need.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, if you do not have a set of friends to raid with, then you are pretty much raid-less for the game, and it is a serious issue as the raids are the best place to get gear. The ability to enter a matchmaking system where you can decide what role you are in the raid, and tailor make your preferences to fit the squad, would allow everyone to participate in the activities.<\/p>\n<p>This would break boundaries for so many players who do not have clans and large groups of friends to join when they are seeking a raid party.
