While repairing a recent fault on its cable, SEACOM discovered a \u201csecondary marine fault\u201d in the Red Sea off the coast of Djibouti.<\/p>\n
It has decided to intervene at the earliest opportunity to ensure any impact to service is minimised.<\/p>\n
A planned service-affecting repair is scheduled to take place from 19 to 22 May 2017.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe impact during this repair window will be that all linear transmission traffic on the east coast of Africa to and from Europe will be affected,\u201d said SEACOM.<\/p>\n
\u201cCustomers with IP or other managed network services will remain unaffected, but could experience higher latencies as traffic will predominantly be routed over SEACOM\u2019s transmission links on the west coast of Africa, as well as on SEACOM\u2019s network to Asia gateways.\u201d<\/p>\n
This\u00a0comes after a marine fault hit SEACOM\u2019s cable on 8 April.
