Well, I impulsively (maybe drunkenly) ordered myself a baseball glove which is arriving sometime today. I’ve also persuaded a friend to impulsively (maybe drunkenly) buy one for himself too. So we’re picking up a bat and playing some ball. Best case scenario, we end up prowling the streets, Double Dragon-style, and fighting crime. But we’ll most likely get drunk and play Mario Kart instead.<\/p>\n

Otherwise, I still have quite a lot of L.A. Noire Achievements to grab, so I’ll probably get back into that at some point too.<\/p>\n

This weekend is the fiancee’s birthday, so my gaming time will have to be cropped accordingly. Although the hours I do sneak in will be dedicated pretty much entirely to the Witcher 2. It’s been a long time since I’ve played a game I wasn’t at least semi-decent at, but I’m sorry to report I’m downright awful at the Witcher 2.<\/p>\n

As it turns out, years of Diablo 2 combat training (read: spam clicking) doesn’t transfer well to Witcher 2. Not to mention the potion\/item\/inventory system has me downright perplexed. I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it eventually. Probably around the time I get a spiny giant spider’s leg halfway up my colon. <\/p>\n

Myles “Pokémylez” Gray<\/strong><\/p>\n

Manual Labour. And no, it is not some fancy new indie title or new Sim-like game. Just hard, sweat-inducing labour helping move junk around — and I’m not even getting a damn cent!!<\/p>\n

While you will be getting trophies and achievements I will be gathering blisters and cuts. Want to trade? Thought so.<\/p>\n

Oh well, back to the back racking, lifting and piling. Hope all you bastards out there will be enjoying your weekend playing those awesome games… while I help family move house.<\/p>\n

Due to this weekend’s hectic social activity<\/a> there’s not a whole lot of time for gaming, but the few hours I have set aside are reserved for the excellent LA Noire. I might even squeeze in a bit of Sly 2 from The Sly Collection if I get home from the bar early\/sober.<\/p>\n

Also, Nic has commanded that I write more opinion pieces so that poor bastard sitting in lockup in The Silk Stocking Murder might just have to sweat it out a little longer.<\/p>\n

James “Parking Spot Thief” Etherington Smith<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am still firmly in the thrall of The Witcher 2. It really just grows on you the more you play, and the prospect of exploring the diverging storylines will keep me coming back for another playthrough. Check out my The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings review<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Otherwise I’ll be gumshoeing around the City of Angels circa 1950, gathering clues, taking names, and solving crime in L.A. Noire. I also have a review copy of Pride of Nations <\/a>to tuck in to – it’s a turn-based historical strategy game set in the colonial era of the 19th century, where the player takes control of a country and guides it through industrialization, military conquest, and colonization. I’m definitely going to need my wits about me for that one.<\/p>\n

Notice how I don’t have a funny nickname? That’s because I put this article together, and while coming up with silly nicknames for colleagues is fun, doing it for yourself is just lame.<\/p>\n

I’ve already mentally set aside a few hours to play Dirt 3 this weekend. I loved Dirt 2, and so far Dirt 3 is just like Dirt 2 but more awesome. The Gymkana tracks do a great job of expanding the gameplay, and the regular racing stuff is as solid as ever. Oh, and racing down ski runs (the snowy kind) is just stupidly fun.<\/p>\n

I also have three cases to wrap up in LA Noire, and of course once the dust settles, The Witcher 2 awaits my return. But I’m getting ahead of myself, keep an eye out for our Dirt 3 review next week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
