Linksys has revealed its\u00a0WRT32X Gaming Router<\/a><\/strong>, designed to provide users with a lag-free gaming experience.<\/p>\n

The router uses custom packet filtering techniques to identify non-gaming traffic and reduce its priority when it detects that a user is playing a game.<\/p>\n

Linksys said its partnership with Killer Networking on the construction of the router cut down on lag and reduced peak ping by 77%.<\/p>\n

Technology<\/h3>\n

For the router\u2019s Killer Prioritization Engine to effectively reduce latency on networks, gamers will need to connect to the device using a Killer-enabled PC.<\/p>\n

Many high-end gaming motherboards and laptops from MSI, Alienware, Gigabyte, and Acer feature support for Killer Networking.<\/p>\n

When playing a game, the Killer hardware communicates with the router and tells it to prioritise its gaming packets.<\/p>\n

Users can also configure the WRT32X to prioritise other types of traffic, including downloads and video streaming.<\/p>\n

Killer Networking\u2019s internal tests saw the WRT32X reduce peak ping rate from 74ms to 17ms using a 10Mbps\/2Mbps connection, with multiple devices consuming bandwidth.<\/p>\n

In a game like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, a difference of 57ms can make the difference between a decent connection and an unplayable delay, said\u00a0Linksys.<\/p>\n

If you are a serious gamer whose latency often fluctuates due to other users consuming bandwidth, the WRT32X router could be the solution to your frustrations.<\/p>\n

Specs and Pricing<\/h3>\n

The WRT32X is constructed from \u201centerprise-grade hardware\u201d, which includes the integrated Killer Prioritization Engine, said its makers.<\/p>\n

It also supports the open-source OpenWRT router OS and Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) technology to increase per-client communication.<\/p>\n

The WRT32X router will be available in the US from 21 September at a price of\u00a0$300<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
