to\u00a0SteamSpy.<\/p>\n<p>Game developer Sergey Galyonkin collects data from Steam as part of the SteamSpy project, providing insight into the PC gaming platform.<\/p>\n<p>While\u00a0Valve does not release official sales figures for Steam,\u00a0Galyonkin uses data from user profiles to extrapolate findings \u2013 dividing them into country categories.<\/p>\n<p>With Steam currently the dominant online platform for PC gaming,\u00a0data from the service provides a good indication of popular PC titles in SA.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Steam in SA<\/h3>\n<p>On 11 September, SteamSpy showed the following statistics for Steam in South Africa:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total active users \u2013\u00a0<strong>600,281<\/strong>\u00a0\u00b1 68,760<\/li>\n<li>Share of total users \u2013\u00a0<strong>0.23%<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Share of total games \u2013\u00a0<strong>0.24%<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Owned games per user \u2013\u00a0<strong>25.2<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Average playtime (2 weeks) \u2013\u00a0<strong>26:55<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Average playtime (total) \u2013\u00a0<strong>990:32<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Active users (2 weeks) \u2013\u00a0<strong>33%<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Active users (total) \u2013\u00a0<strong>86%<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Bestselling games in August<\/h3>\n<p>For August, the games below
