Insomniac Games – that’s the guys who did the Ratchet & Clank and Resistance series for various PlayStation consoles, in case you don’t keep up with this stuff – last night announced Overstrike, a new multiplatform brand for Xbox and PS3.<\/p>\n
The rather zany, pre-rendered trailer doesn’t reveal very much about the actual gameplay, but it’s definitely a 4-player co-op action game of some sort, it features an electro-bolt crossbow, and it’s presumably in the third person.<\/p>\n

Set in the near-future, Overstrike follows a team of four elite agents obliterating enemy strongholds using fringe-tech gadgets and lethal teamwork. The members of Overstrike 9 are comprised of an ex-mercenary, Interpol’s most wanted thief, a gifted young scientist and a decorated detective. Collectively, they are the agency’s outcasts. But a shadowy organization threatens to wipe out humankind. Thanks to each agent’s unique talents and a tendency to completely ignore protocol – Overstrike 9 is the only option left.
