In an interview from the E3 show floor, Activision CEO and intergalactic villain Bobby Kotick has somewhat casually dismissed Battlefield 3’s chances against Modern Warfare 3, saying that “Well, so far I’ve only seen Battlefield 3 shown on a PC, so I haven’t seen it on a console which is where the bulk of our business is. If it’s just a PC title as it looks like today, that’s a very small audience to participate, but we always are interested to see what our competitors are doing.”<\/p>\n
PC gamers can get busy raging, but in the meantime, he kind of has a point there. Most recently, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 did pretty well on console, selling just over 5 million copies for Xbox and PS3 and only just over 600 000 on PC, while Call of Duty: Black Ops sold some 22.5 million or so copies across the same platforms, and 1.2 million on PC. It’s obvious which is the more popular brand on console. Er, and PC, for that matter. <\/p>\n
“So far every one of our sequels has performed better than our prequels by meaningful amounts,” added Kotick. “The demand that we’re seeing on this game is unlike we’ve seen ever, and not by a little. If you look at the pre-orders, if you look at the number of people that have signed up for the beta test, if you look at things like Google searches of Modern Warfare, these are numbers that we’ve never seen before.”<\/p>\n
