{"id":124446,"date":"2022-03-30T10:22:06","date_gmt":"2022-03-30T08:22:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=124446"},"modified":"2022-03-30T10:22:06","modified_gmt":"2022-03-30T08:22:06","slug":"fortnite-raises-100-million-for-ukraine-in-just-9-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/124446-fortnite-raises-100-million-for-ukraine-in-just-9-days","title":{"rendered":"Fortnite raises $100 million for Ukraine in just 9 days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fortnite has announced via <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FortniteGame\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter <\/a>that it has raised over 100 million dollars to support the humanitarian relief for people affected by the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>This effort began with the release of its new season earlier this month, when it said that all proceeds from 20 March to 3 April will be donated to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>These proceeds come from the in-game purchases made by players and include battle pass purchases, cosmetic purchases, v-bucks purchases, and anything else bought within Fortnite\u2019s item shop.<\/p>\n<p>Organizations that have received donations from the battle royale game include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.directrelief.org\/emergency\/ukraine-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Direct Relief<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/emergencies\/war-ukraine-pose-immediate-threat-children?utm_source=epicgames.com&amp;utm_medium=epiccampaign&amp;utm_campaign=ukraine_crisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/ukraine-emergency.html?utm_source=partnerships&amp;utm_medium=partnerships&amp;utm_campaign=HQ_PS_EN_GE___epic-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Un Refugee Agency (UNHCR)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wck.org\/?utm_source=partnerships&amp;utm_medium=partnerships&amp;utm_campaign=HQ_PS_EN_GE___epic-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Central Kitchen<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are still four days to go until the end of the campaign, but Fortnite&#8217;s efforts have already set a high precedent for other gaming companies.<\/p>\n<p>Other popular tech companies have also pledged to donate towards the humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.org\/ukraine-relief\/\">Google<\/a> ($25 million)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/standing-with-ukraine\/#:~:text=Salesforce%20and%20our%20employees%20are,a%20material%20business%20in%20Russia.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Salesforce<\/a> ($2 million)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.snap.com\/we-support-ukraine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Snapchat<\/a> ($15 million)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fortnite has also included information on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epicgames.com\/fortnite\/en-US\/news\/support-humanitarian-relief-for-ukraine?sessionInvalidated=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a> for those wishing to donate to the cause.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">As of today, we\u2019ve raised $100 million USD together to support humanitarian relief for people affected by the war in Ukraine.
