{"id":12449,"date":"2011-06-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-19T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"sega-hacked-1-2-million-accounts-compromised","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/12449-sega-hacked-1-2-million-accounts-compromised","title":{"rendered":"SEGA hacked, 1.2 million accounts compromised"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SEGA has confirmed that their own SEGA Pass database was hacked sometime over the weekend, compromising 1.29 million user accounts which include email addresses and other personal data.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Over the last 24 hours we have identified that unauthorised entry was gained to our Sega Pass database,&rdquo; reads an email sent to users.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We immediately took the appropriate action to protect our consumers&#8217; data and isolate the location of the breach. We have launched an investigation into the extent of the breach of our public systems.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The company has reset all passwords and recommended users change their login details anywhere else they might&rsquo;ve used the same credentials.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are deeply sorry for causing trouble to our customers,&#8221; says SEGA spokesperson, Yoko Nagasawa. &#8220;We want to work on strengthening security.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps they might have thought of doing that sooner, but it&rsquo;s not like this sort of thing is that common. Oh, wait.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly enough, LulzSec has denied responsibility for the attack, and even offered their assistance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want to help you destroy the hackers that attacked you.
