{"id":12495,"date":"2011-06-21T14:46:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-21T12:46:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"lulzsec-exposed-suspected-hacker-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/12495-lulzsec-exposed-suspected-hacker-arrested","title":{"rendered":"LulzSec exposed, suspected hacker arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group calling themselves the Web Ninjas has launched a website with the purpose of exposing the members of the now notorious LulzSec hacking outfit.<\/p>\n<p>LulzSec has made a name for itself over the last couple of months by executing hacking attacks against a number of websites and internet based services. PBS news, Fox News, Nintendo, Sony Pictures, Bethesda, and various governmental websites around the globe have allegedly been targeted by LulzSec.<\/p>\n<p>Gamers have been affected by attacks on various online gaming services such as EVE Online, Heroes of Newerth, League of Legends, and Minecraft. Various batches of user information, have been released, including over 62,000 e-mail addresses, user names and passwords.<\/p>\n<p>LulzSec also recently issued a call to fellow hackers for action against governmental institutes around the world, which they dubbed Operation Anti-Security.They released&nbsp; internal data from US governmental website, senate.gov. Earlier today the group <a href=\"http:\/\/pastebin.com\/K1nerhk\" target=\"_blank\">claimed<\/a> to have obtained the UK 2011 census information which they plan to release on torrent websites at some point.<\/p>\n<p>The Web Ninjas website, <a href=\"http:\/\/lulzsecexposed.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">LulzSec Exposed<\/a>, has been operational since Sunday 19 June 2011. It contains what the operators claim is information on the various individuals involved in LulzSec. The Web Ninjas also stated that they would be sharing information on LulzSec members with the FBI.<\/p>\n<p>The Web Ninjas <a href=\"http:\/\/lulzsecexposed.blogspot.com\/2011\/06\/operation-security.html\" target=\"_blank\">responded<\/a> to Operation Anti-Security. Abridged quote below: &ldquo;Now that Sabu and his gang aka LulzSec were exposed by us and our friends, they feel very insecure and they know their time is near. Already some members of the group left.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;As all of you know that Lulzsec likes providing LULZ at the expense of others by hacking them and exposing their information and then other stupid people follow it by logging to victims personal accounts, their FB, PP, Email by creating more confusion. Web ninjas decided to give them a taste of their own LULZ and we have shown them that they are not the &#8220;Internet Gods&#8221; they think they are.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Suspected hacker arrested<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in the UK (20 June 2011) a 19-year old suspected hacker has been arrested by Scotland Yard, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/nakedsecurity.sophos.com\/2011\/06\/21\/lulzsec-suspect-arrested-scotland-yard\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sophos blog<\/a>. The Police Central e-Crime Unit (PCeU) arrested the man on suspicion of breaching the Computer Misuse Act. They searched his house in Wickford, Essex, and seized computer equipment which will undergo forensic examination.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation was made in co-operation with the FBI, PCeU, and Essex police.
