Bloodborne PSX

Bloodborne PSX is a PS1 demake of the critically acclaimed FromSoftware PS4 title.

It took developer Lillith Walther only 13 months to complete the project, which is impressive considering that you get to fight two early game bosses and a hunter NPC.

This isn’t an artist’s rendition either but mimics the original game down to the tiniest details, including the opening cutscene.

Although it’s not exactly how I wanted to play Bloodborne on PC, it’s a surprisingly fun way to pass a couple of hours.

Even if you are not a fan of the Souls series, this demake is a must-play since it’s free on itch.io.

2. Low Mem Sky

Low Mem Sky is a parodical demake of No Man’s Sky, the space exploration and survival game that had a less than stellar launch in 2016.

Unlike the original game, though, Low Mem Sky was released to praise from retro gamers for its technical accomplishments and use of procedural generation techniques.

Developer Paul Nicholas stated that his goal with Low Mem Sky was to see how much gameplay and content he could get onto a single PICO-8 cartridge.

Low Mem Sky has 180,383,121,450 unique star systems, with each system containing up to eight planets and one space station.

3. Super Smash Land

Super Smash Land is a demake of Super Smash Bros. and is intended to look and play like a Nintendo Gameboy title.

While the game has a much smaller character roster than the Smash franchise’s modern titles, Super Smash Land’s developer Dan Fornace included similar features.

PC players who haven’t tried out a Super Smash Bros. title yet or simply want to see what this demake has to offer can download Super Smash Land from the game’s website.

4. Soundless Mountain 2

Soundless Mountain 2 is an NES demake of the influential PS2 horror game Silent Hill 2.

The game is set in the same town of Silent Hill but is from a top-down perspective and features low-polygon 2D graphics.

In an interview with Destructoid, developer Jasper Byrne said that at the start of the project, he realised how well some of Silent Hill 2’s mechanics could work as a 2D NES title.

Byrne spent approximately 15 hours analysing the first fifteen minutes of Silent Hill 2 to recreate the visual and audio cues that made the original game so eerie.

5. Pixel Force: Halo

Pixel Force: Halo is an 8-bit NES demake of the famous first-person shooter game, Halo.

The gameplay is similar to fast-paced action platformers like Contra and doesn’t feature a first-person view.

Halo’s original soundtrack has also been remixed to fit the retro arcade feel, and Pixel Force: Halo even contains top-down Warthog driving segments.

If players find the demake too easy, developer Eric Ruth has included a ‘Legendary’ difficulty mode that appears only after completing the game.

Read: The best souls-likes to play when you eventually finish Elden Ring

[9,20,3
26162,26161,26166,26163,26167,26164,26165
post-124959","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-entertainment","category-features","category-pc","tag-bloodborne-psx","tag-demakes","tag-low-mem-sky","tag-pixel-force-halo","tag-retro-games","tag-soundless-mountain-2","tag-super-smash-land
["GET
