Yesterday afternoon reports came in that infamous hacking group LulzSec’s membership had been exposed, and furthermore, that 19 year old British man Ryan Cleary, thought to be the “mastermind” behind the operation, had been arrested by Scotland yard. <\/p>\n
Later on a LulzSec associate The Real Sabu tweeted<\/a> that “all members of lulzSec are safe,” and that Cleary simply runs irc.lulzsec.org.<\/p>\n An official LulzSec tweet<\/a> followed: “Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested, it’s all over now… wait… we’re all still here! Which poor bastard did they take down?”<\/p>\n Further tweets followed shedding some light on the matter:<\/p>\n “Ryan Cleary is not part of LulzSec; we house one of our many legitimate chatrooms on his IRC server, but that’s it.”<\/p>\n “We use Ryan’s server, we also use Efnet, 2600, Rizon and AnonOps IRC servers. That doesn’t mean they’re all part of our group.”<\/p>\n “Clearly the UK police are so desperate to catch us that they’ve gone and arrested someone who is, at best, mildly associated with us. Lame.”<\/p>\n “Oh well – less tweet spam now. Best watch out, they can’t get us, so they’re going after people they think might know us. Defend yourselves.”<\/p>\n LulzSec also identified an individual who “tried to snitch on” them, and addressed<\/a> an open letter to the FBI detailing the snitch’s full name, physical address, phone number, as well as details regarding illegal cyber activities he has been involved in. It is thought that the “snitch” was responsible for providing authorities with information leading to Ryan Cleary’s arrest.<\/p>\n In a tweet directed at the snitch, LulzSec said “Remember this tweet, m_nerva, for I know you’ll read it: your cold jail cell will be haunted with our endless laughter. Game over, child.”<\/p>\n
