{"id":125651,"date":"2022-07-04T08:27:08","date_gmt":"2022-07-04T06:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=125651"},"modified":"2022-07-04T08:27:18","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T06:27:18","slug":"ubisoft-to-pull-online-services-for-several-older-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/125651-ubisoft-to-pull-online-services-for-several-older-games","title":{"rendered":"Ubisoft to pull online services for several older games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ubisoft has officially <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubisoft.com\/en-gb\/help\/gameplay\/article\/decommissioning-of-online-services-september-2022\/000102396\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a><\/strong> that it will be decommissioning its online services for a number of older titles on 1 September 2022.<\/p>\n<p>This closure of the online services means that players will no longer be able to access or install DLCs, play multiplayer, link Ubisoft accounts in-game, or use other online features.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClosing the online services for some older games allows us to focus our resources on delivering great experiences for players who are playing newer or more popular titles,\u201d said Ubisoft.<\/p>\n<p>The developer also noted that remastered versions of the games listed below would not be affected by the decommissions, such as the upcoming <em>Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands<\/em> remake.<\/p>\n<p>The titles affected and the features they will lose are detailed below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Anno 2070<\/strong> (2011): multiplayer, linking accounts, online features.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assassin&#8217;s Creed 2<\/strong> (2009): multiplayer, linking accounts, online features.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assassin&#8217;s Creed 3<\/strong> (2012): multiplayer, linking accounts, online features, access to DLC.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Brotherhood<\/strong> (2010): multiplayer, linking accounts, online features, access to DLC.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Liberation HD<\/strong> (2014): multiplayer, linking accounts, online features, access DLC.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Driver San Francisco<\/strong> (2011): multiplayer, linking accounts, online features, access to DLC.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Far Cry 3<\/strong> (2012): multiplayer, linking accounts, online features, access to DLC.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands<\/strong> (2010): co-op multiplayer, linking accounts, online features, access to DLC.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Silent Hunter 5<\/strong> (2010): multiplayer, linking accounts, online features, access to DLC.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Space Junkies<\/strong> (2019): &#8220;As a multiplayer-only title, you will be unable to play the game going forward.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Splinter Cell: Blacklist<\/strong> (2013): multiplayer, linking accounts, online features.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We will be deactivating online services on some of our older titles on September 1st, 2022.
