{"id":12583,"date":"2011-06-27T11:43:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-27T09:43:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"gearbox-unreal-engine-makes-it-easier-to-port-games-for-wii-u","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/12583-gearbox-unreal-engine-makes-it-easier-to-port-games-for-wii-u","title":{"rendered":"Gearbox: Unreal Engine \u201cmakes it easier\u201d to port games for Wii U"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gearbox didn&rsquo;t get its Wii U devkit until just a few months ago, but it turns out that&rsquo;s more than enough time to get Colonial Marines up and running on the console &ndash; thanks to the flexibility of the Unreal Engine.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The software, it&rsquo;s pretty easy to work on, so that makes things a lot easier,&rdquo; project producer Brian Burleson tells<a href=\"http:\/\/www.videogamer.com\/news\/gearbox_got_wii_u_devkits_two_months_before_e3.html\" target=\"_blank\"> VideoGamer. <\/a>&ldquo;When you already have something working, especially on the Unreal Engine, it&rsquo;s a pretty basic, straightforward port at that point. Unreal makes it easier to do that, for sure.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While he refused to divulge information about the new Nintendo console&rsquo;s tech specs, he does suggest it&rsquo;s more or less on par with the Xbox 360 and PS3.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The goal is always to make it for all the platforms to be the same,&rdquo; he says. &#8220;It really sucks to have a game be nerfed on one platform, or missing a feature on one platform.
