Microsoft has reportedly created a new team to future-proof and preserve the Xbox game library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is according to Windows Central<\/strong><\/a>, where it was revealed that recently appointed Xbox president Sarah Bond had sent out emails to employees about establishing this new team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The emails noted that the team would build on the company\u2019s strong history of delivering backwards compatibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have formed a new team dedicated to game preservation, important to all of us at Xbox and the industry itself,\u201d Bond said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bond also noted that work would continue integrating Activision-Blizzard games and Battle.net into Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are integrating Activision Blizzard King titles into our services \u2014 we launched Diablo IV into Game Pass, and Xbox has quickly become the #1 platform for D4 players,\u201d Bond said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new preservation team is also significant as Microsoft will close parts of the Xbox 360 store this year for new purchases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While hundreds of Xbox 360 titles remain playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X\/S, this new team will ensure they live on even further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe remain committed to bringing forward the amazing library of Xbox games for future generations of players to enjoy,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft has reportedly indicated it would share more about this new team around the annual Xbox Showcases \u2013 9 June this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
