Blizzard has announced that they have completely revamped their trial account system, which used to let players explore the world of Azeroth for free for up to ten days. Experts agree that ten days is about how long it takes for World of Warcrack to work its way into the player’s system and take hold of their sensibilities completely.<\/p>\n
From now on, players can play for as long as they like, but their characters will stop gaining experience at level 20. According to seasoned WoW players, the game only really gets started at level 80, and we can vouch for the claim that the first 20 levels are a total grind-fest.<\/p>\n
Once the trial is up, players will be given the option to purchase the game as well as the first expansion pack: The Burning Crusade. For the current 8 WoW denizens who don’t already own The Burning Crusade, it has been added to their accounts for free. Don’t say Blizzard never gave you anything nice.<\/p>\n
Word on the interwebz has it that this is Blizzard’s first step at trialing a potential free-to-play model for WoW, although for now that remains a wild rumour, and it’s difficult to imagine Blizzard giving up its 10 million strong monthly subscriber base.<\/p>\n
