{"id":126351,"date":"2024-05-27T09:57:33","date_gmt":"2024-05-27T07:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=126351"},"modified":"2024-05-27T09:57:33","modified_gmt":"2024-05-27T07:57:33","slug":"when-you-die-your-steam-account-dies-with-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/pc\/126351-when-you-die-your-steam-account-dies-with-you","title":{"rendered":"When you die, your Steam account dies with you"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A recent query to Steam Support has confirmed an unfortunate reality &#8211; you can&#8217;t bequeath your Steam library to anyone when you die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This discovery was made by the user <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.resetera.com\/threads\/to-anyone-who-is-curious-no-you-cannot-transfer-your-steam-account-via-a-will-you-can-only-take-your-games-to-your-graves.875634\/\">delete12345 on resetera<\/a><\/strong>, where they posted a screenshot of a query they made with Steam Support about transferring their Steam account via a will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t plan on dying anytime soon, but when I do, could ownership of my Steam account be transferred via a will,&#8221; read the query from the user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly, the answer he received from Steam, while professional, was a negative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Unfortunately, Steam accounts and games are non-transferable.
