A leak from an established insider has revealed some new details about the next generation of Xbox consoles expected to arrive in 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This report comes from Windows Central’s Jez Corden who had heard a rumour that the next-gen console will feature a neural processing unit (NPU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chip, which is dedicated to AI computations, will reportedly be produced by Qualcomm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This makes sense as the relationship between Qualcomm and Microsoft has been strengthened in recent years with the two companies collaborating on various client-side AI solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Along with this, Corden reported that the next-gen console may also boast native support for Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant – which was unveiled in May this year and is currently available across Windows 11 PCs and mobile devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The insider also claimed that Microsoft plans to position the next-gen console as a reference design for original equipment manufacturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which essentially means Microsoft wants third parties to be able to make their own Xbox-branded hardware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overall, these leaks do fall in-line with Microsoft’s previous statements about ensuring the next console will have the biggest technological leap ever in a single generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
