No longer content with just pushing out a game every year, Activision has now announced they’ll be hosting the first ever Call of Duty XP convention a little later this year. Yes, a Call of Duty convention. CODCon. You can make jokes about the double entendre in the comments.<\/p>\n
In the meantime then, CODCon (lol) will be happening in Los Angeles over Labor Day weekend, 2-3 September, and is prepped to host 6000 screaming adolescents in real life.<\/p>\n
“From the high production values of our live, immersive events — all the way to the smallest details in every design and activity — we’re pulling out all the stops to make Call of Duty XP the ultimate gathering for the global community of Call of Duty fans,” says Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg. “The celebration will immerse attendees in a Call of Duty experience unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. Over the course of two days, gamers can trade Call of Duty war stories, experience the official unveiling of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer and the full feature functionality of Call of Duty Elite, as well as enjoy world-class entertainment and compete head-to-head for some serious cash prizes.”<\/p>\n
Tickets go on sale next month at a pretty hefty $150 a pop, but all proceeds will go towards the Call of Duty Endowment non-profit group which “helps soldiers transition to civilian careers after their military service”, so that’s nice.<\/p>\n
