{"id":127118,"date":"2026-07-24T11:45:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T09:45:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/?p=127118"},"modified":"2026-07-24T11:45:20","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T09:45:20","slug":"4k-high-refresh-rate-monitors-for-less-than-r7000-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/features\/127118-4k-high-refresh-rate-monitors-for-less-than-r7000-in-south-africa","title":{"rendered":"4K high refresh rate monitors for less than R7,000 in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>4K monitors with high refresh rates &#8211; 120Hz, 144Hz, or 165Hz &#8211; are ideal for South African gamers who want detailed imagery and smooth motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Historically, monitors with such a high resolution and refresh rate have been prohibitively expensive &#8211; often costing at least R10,000 and usually closer to the R20,000 mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, we have recently discovered several options under R10,000 &#8211; including a few below R7,000, and one under R6,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This makes them far more accessible to South African gamers who want fluid motion and crisp imagery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the cheapest 4K 120Hz monitor you can find is likely to have some downfalls, it is likely to still meet your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, you&#8217;re unlikely to get industry-leading colour accuracy or contrasts, or a fancy OLED panel on a monitor like this &#8211; but it still displays high-quality 4K images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want a high refresh rate with a 4K resolution and superior colour accuracy, you will need to push your budget significantly higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We shopped around at a few of the top retailers in South Africa to see what the cheapest 4K, high refresh rate monitors on the market were, and we found a surprising number of options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before discussing these monitors, it is important to clarify two things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>4K is also often denoted by &#8216;UHD,&#8217; meaning Ultra High Definition, but they are the same thing &#8211; both mean 3,840 x 2,160 resolution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Most of the time, the size of a monitor is rounded, but some manufacturers report the precise number (i.e. 31.5 inches) rather than the rounded number (i.e. 32 inches).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We use 4K and a rounded-number notation for consistency, since they are the most commonly used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the options we found were 27-inch displays, but we even found a few 32-inch monitors for under R10,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We detail the monitors we found below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WootVision 32U V144 WV32UHDVPB-144HZ<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WootVision-Monitor.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WootVision-Monitor-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-127181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WootVision-Monitor-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WootVision-Monitor-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WootVision-Monitor-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WootVision-Monitor-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WootVision-Monitor-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/WootVision-Monitor.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Popular PC component retailer Wootware offers its own brand of products, one of which is its line of WootVision monitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wootware.co.za\/wootvision-32u-v144-31-5-4k-uhd-3840x2160-144hz-4ms-va-black-desktop-monitor.html\"><strong>R5,799<\/strong><\/a>, this is the most affordable monitor we could find that met our 4K, high refresh rate requirements &#8211; and, impressively, it is a 32-inch panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The WootVision 32U V144 offers a 144Hz refresh rate. It also provides a solid 4ms response time, adaptive sync, auto low latency mode, and 95% DCI-P3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It uses a VA panel &#8211; <a panel types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dell S2725QS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a IPS panel with a 4ms response time and built-in dual 5W speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was available from Evetech for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.evetech.co.za\/dell-27-plus-4k-uhd-120hz-ips-monitor\/best-deal\/25858?sid=2942834\">R6,499<\/a>, from Wootware for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wootware.co.za\/dell-s2725qs-27-plus-4k-27-uhd-4k-3840x2160-8ms-120hz-ips-anti-glare-ash-white-desktop-monitor.html\">R6,849<\/a>, and from Takealot for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.takealot.com\/dell-27-plus-s2725qs-27-3840x2160-120hz-uhd-4k-ips-led-monitor\/PLID98308798\">R6,852.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also a 32-inch version of the same monitor &#8211; S3225QS &#8211; available from Takealot for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.takealot.com\/dell-32-plus-s3225qs-31-5-3840x2160-120hz-uhd-4k-va-led-monitor\/PLID98308785\">R8,498.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dell S2725QC<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Dell-Monitor-1.jpg\"><img Wootware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where it beats the other monitors we&#8217;ve listed so far is that it offers a much faster 1ms response time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gamers who play a wide range of titles will also
