With the original PC launch of The Witcher 2, CD Projekt RED signed up a pretty substantial number of publishing partners to cover various territories, including Atari in North America, 1C Company in Russia, and Namco Bandai in Europe.<\/p>\n
Now with the Xbox release coming up, they’ve made a deal with THQ in Europe, a decision which Namco Bandai is disputing in the time-honoured tradition of inter-corporate conflict resolution – an axe duel to the death. Wait no; I read that wrong. It’s just a lawsuit. Although an axe duel would have been way cooler.<\/p>\n
Anyway, CD Projekt doesn’t seem too concerned about it.<\/p>\n
“Our financial situation is very good at the moment and the lack of a few million does not have any impact on current activities. Withholding of payments means only that after some time, our partner will have to give us the money,” the CD Projekt’s CEO, Adam Kicinski, tells Polish site, CDAction<\/a> (via CVG<\/a>).<\/p>\n “I hope that the whole thing will end with a pre-litigation settlement. If it doesn’t, I am sure that we will win the case and then the loser will pay for our lawyers. The agreement that we signed last year, concerned only the distribution of The Witcher 2 for the PC. The records were carefully clarified to avoid any ambiguity.<\/p>\n
