Turns out it&rsquo;s not true. Not quite, anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Sony has confirmed that while HDMI will now be required for Blu-ray playback &ndash; in compliance with the AACS Final Adopter Agreement regulations &ndash; console owners would still be able to use a component cable for everything else.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The reports aren&#8217;t accurate,&#8221; SCEA PR Manager Al De Leon tells <a href=\"http:\/\/gear.ign.com\/articles\/118\/1181960p1.html\" target=\"_blank\">IGN.<\/a> &#8220;The new CECH-3000 series PS3 requires HDMI only for BD movie output in HD, in compliance with AACS standards.
