{"id":13086,"date":"2011-07-23T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-07-23T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"epic-admits-bulletstorm-didn-t-turn-a-profit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/13086-epic-admits-bulletstorm-didn-t-turn-a-profit","title":{"rendered":"Epic admits Bulletstorm didn&#039;t turn a profit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Epic has admitted to <a href=\"http:\/\/kotaku.com\/5823810\/bulletstorm-didnt-make-money-but-it-was-worth-it\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Kotaku\">Kotaku<\/a> that their early 2011 release, Bulletstorm, &ldquo;didn&rsquo;t make money for us.&rdquo; Despite not turning a profit, Epic president Mike Capps says he has no regrets.<\/p>\n<p>The game was developed by Polish studio People Can Fly, whose impressive first game release was Painkiller. The company was formed in 2002 and later acquired by Epic in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Capp says he doesn&rsquo;t regret green-lighting Bulletstorm, as opposed to the alternative of developing content for Gears of War. &ldquo;The studio has shipped AAA content,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;The next thing we do with People Can Fly will be great.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The commercial failure of Bulletstorm is somewhat surprising given the nature of the game and the hype surrounding its release.
