Angry Birds has enjoyed phenomenal success since its release. Becoming an international sensation before anyone had time to even realize it was happening, Angry Birds has become the poster-child for casual gaming, and has almost single-handedly inspired publishers and developers the world over to cast a much more serious eye over the casual and social gaming platform.<\/p>\n
Western domination is no longer enough for Angry Birds creator Rovio, however, and they are now looking to sweep through China.<\/p>\n
“We are betting everything on Angry Birds,” said CEO of the company, Peter Vesterbacka. “We want to be the first entertainment brand with a billion fans. That will take us two or three years to do. Next year, we want to be the leading entertainment brand in China.”<\/p>\n
While piracy in that region is a major concern, Peter Vesterbacka says, “You can’t really fight that except by making better products than the copies. Instead of sending lawyers, we are building products. It’s not all about monetization now. It’s about keeping the fans coming back and building the brand.”<\/p>\n
