{"id":13108,"date":"2011-07-24T23:33:00","date_gmt":"2011-07-24T21:33:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"battlefield-3-to-sport-in-game-advertising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/13108-battlefield-3-to-sport-in-game-advertising","title":{"rendered":"Battlefield 3 to sport in-game advertising"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamersbook.com\/scene\/news\/battlefield-3-to-feature-in-game-ads\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Gamersbook<\/a>, EA DICE&#8217;s Daniel Matros has confirmed that Battlefield 3 will feature in-game adverts on multiplayer maps.<\/p>\n<p>Matros did not formally announce of explain how the adverts will work, but after a community event in Germany he tweeted &#8220;One of them was knifed and said. &#8220;Hey, i was checking out this cool in-game ad&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear what sort of products will be advertised in Battlefield 3, but it will not be the first time EA dips into the world of in-game advertising. US president Barrack Obama became the first presidential candidate to purchase in-game advertising, when he appeared on outdoor banners in Burnout Paradise.<\/p>\n<p>However EA&#8217;s Ben Cousins has since claimed that in-game advertising doesn&#8217;t work, telling <a href=\"http:\/\/www.escapistmagazine.com\/news\/view\/106284-EA-Exec-Says-In-Game-Advertising-Doesnt-Pay-Off\" target=\"_blank\">The Escapist<\/a> back in December that he&#8217;s &#8220;not convinced that we&#8217;ll have billboards in games and things like that.
