Ubisoft has made a name for itself among PC gamers for shafting them with crappy DRM which requires a constant internet connection even for single player games. Not only is this a problem if your internet is shaky (or you don’t have internet), but it also means that when Ubisoft’s authentication servers go down, you can’t play. Meanwhile, those who pirate the game will not have to deal with this inconvenience.<\/p>\n
Yesterday Ubisoft confirmed that the PC version of its upcoming action-arcade driving game, Driver, will require always on internet to play, as it will use Ubisoft’s online service.<\/p>\n
Then when gamers spotted Ubisoft’s trademark DRM on From Dust’s Steam page, everyone jumped to the conclusion that the game would also require always on internet.<\/p>\n
Ubisoft has however told VG247<\/a> that this is not that case. “From Dust will not require a permanent online connection to play in single-player mode,” said a Ubisoft representative.<\/p>\n From Dust is being released for PC on 17 August.<\/p>\n Check out our review of From Dust on Xbox 360. <\/a><\/p>\n
