Turns out Valve’s not just dragging DOTA 2 along to Gamescom, they’re bringing it in style – with a tournament and a $1 million cash prize to the winning team. I even typed that in Dr Evil’s voice.<\/p>\n

The tourney will have 16 of the world’s top DOTA teams battling it out in a double elimination playoff during the five-day gaming expo in Germany later this month. That’s probably also a significant percentage of the world’s most potty-mouthed 13-year olds, so it’s kind of a double-whammy.<\/p>\n

The competition will apparently be streamed online with Chinese, German, Russian, and English commentary, for those DOTA fans who can’t be there to witness this historic event in person.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Valve has announced that the game will be out “later this year” for PC and Mac.<\/p>\n

Gamescom is happening 17-21 August, and MyGaming is sending James over to make sure the kids play nice, and bring back salted liquorice for everybody in the office.<\/p>\n
