{"id":13286,"date":"2011-08-02T12:28:00","date_gmt":"2011-08-02T10:28:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"square-enix-saves-true-crime-hong-kong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/13286-square-enix-saves-true-crime-hong-kong","title":{"rendered":"Square Enix saves True Crime: Hong Kong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>True Crime: Hong Kong now has its second shot at the big time, following Square Enix&rsquo;s recent move to acquire the rights to the game from Activision, who cancelled the game earlier a few months ago.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;When we first saw and got our hands on the game we fell in love with it,&#8221; Square Enix London Studios general manager Lee Singleton tells <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/36132\/Square_Enix_Nabs_Rights_To_True_Crime_Hong_Kong_From_Activision.php\" target=\"_blank\">Gamasutra.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s one of those games where you don&#8217;t want to put the controller down; it&#8217;s what we call &#8216;sticky&#8217;,&#8221; he says, citing the project&rsquo;s &ldquo;incredible new game engine, rich new story with deep and complex characters, and gameplay features which have simply never been seen at this level in an open world game&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The publisher has not actually acquired the True Crime IP, however, so they&rsquo;ll be changing the game&rsquo;s name, although Singleton adds that it&rsquo;s &ldquo;too early&rdquo; to say what that might be.
