Free-to-play MMOs are all the rage these days, and developers are finding that giving away games for free and then charging players for in-game items is often a far more profitable approach than charging a purchase fee and then a subscription fee on top of that.<\/p>\n
The idea is that the allure of a free game is enough to lure a greater number of players into trying it out, and once they are hooked they can be easily convinced to spend money on digital items.<\/p>\n
The latest upcoming release to be confirmed to take the free-to-play route is Trion Worlds’ End of Nations, an interesting looking MMORTS that we previewed at E3 last year. <\/a><\/p>\n So how exactly will it work?<\/strong><\/p>\n “Every End of Nations player will have full access to all the heart-stopping action-packed strategic warfare that the game offers, including massive scale battles of over 50 players, a huge persistent world, and customization options to make every army and unit unique. Gamers can play in the solo campaign, in co-op mode with up to 50 other players, and in “Conquer the World” multiplayer in giant conflicts of up to 26 vs. 26 for global control of the massive persistent world.
