Oh, and Nintendo&#8217;s swiped the console&#8217;s backwards compatibility, so no GameCube games or hardware are supported anymore. Boo! Turns out the redesign was mostly just taking out those expansion slots. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>The original Wii is getting a bit of a makeover, according to a report over on the Official <a href=\"http:\/\/www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk\/29576\/new-wii-console-coming-before-christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nintendo Magazine&rsquo;s site.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The article claims that &ldquo;a streamlined white Wii with a slightly altered configuration, which is designed to sit horizontally rather than vertically&rdquo; is due to launch in the UK (and, presumably, elsewhere) as an Xmas promo. It&rsquo;s apparently bundled with Wii Party and Wii Sports, as well as a Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk controllers.<\/p>\n<p>Seems pretty legit considering they&rsquo;re the Official Nintendo Magazine and everything, although it does seem a rather odd move considering the Wii U is expected to launch sometime next year already. Besides, is there really anybody on the planet who doesn&rsquo;t already have a Wii?<\/p>\n<p>If it&rsquo;s true, though, it&rsquo;ll be the first significant revision for the console since the Wii launched in 2006.
