Sony’s officially busted rumours that the PS Vita took a hardware downgrade, confirming that the handheld does actually, yes, in fact, have 512 MB RAM. So much for internet speculation.<\/p>\n

Rumours started around E3, when reports went around claiming that the PS Vita had seen a number of hardware downgrades in order to keep its retail price competitive with the Nintendo 3DS.<\/p>\n

By way of comparison, the original PlayStation Portable had just 32 MB RAM, later upgraded to 64 MB in subsequent revisions.<\/p>\n

So, pretty big improvement there.<\/p>\n

What Sony hasn’t yet confirmed, however, is a launch date for the new PS Vita, although it’s expected sometime this year in Japan, and around the first quarter of 2012 in America, Europe, and over here.<\/p>\n

Over at Gamescom in Germany in the meantime then, our man on the scene James Etherington-Smith has compiled an info-bomb of the PS Vita’s features and launch titles.<\/a><\/p>\n
