<\/p>\nRed Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad looks set to fill a World War II sized hole that has formed in the FPS landscape of late. The game promises “unique and innovative gameplay” including first person cover, first person tank warfare, all new multiplayer gametypes including the multiplayer campaign mode, and weaponry systems with features such as full ballistics and suppression of enemies.<\/p>\n
Red Orchestra 2 gives players the opportunity to fight through both the German attacks into the Russian city of Stalingrad and the Red Army’s crushing reply in single player. The title is releasing on Tuesday, 13 September 2011 via digital download portals, and Friday 16 September 2011 from physical retail stores. The game is an approximate 7GB download for those going the digital route.<\/p>\n

A number of South African ISPs have confirmed that they will be hosting servers when the game launches.<\/p>\n
iGame Online manager Jonathan Smit confirmed that iGame will be hosting one or more servers for the game. “Our server will be ranked as I have already spoken to Tripwire Interactive,” said Smit.<\/p>\n
Discussing the servers on the MyGaming forum<\/a>, Smit said: “From what I can tell…the game seems to be intended for large format gameplay; i.e. 64 players. Now the problem with this is that you’d need 64 players to fully enjoy it. The servers do apparently provide some sort of flexibility in terms of scale; scaling down to 32 or 16 players is apparently possible. So depending on how many local players we see we will scale our server\/servers to attempt to give you guys at least some degree of gameplay.”<\/p>\n MWEB’s Online Gaming Manager, Desmond Kurz, said that “the confirmation of who will be appointed as the preferred hosts for Red Orchestra 2 has not yet been made public, but we are confident that Gamerservers.com, as one of the leaders in the industry, will be granted this opportunity. Should this be the case, we will then deploy local servers for Red Orchestra 2 via our agreement with Gameservers.com.”<\/p>\n Kurz added that “customers who purchase the game from Steam will be able to do a faster download from MWEB’s local Steam server mirrors in Johannesburg and Cape Town. All they need to do is change their cloud settings to point to these servers in the Steam Account settings.”<\/p>\n Web Africa (WAGE) indicated that it is more than likely that they will be hosting servers for Red Orchestra 2 when the game is released.
