It has 8MB of L3 cash and carries a nauseating $1,096 (R7,670) price tag.

An additional two mobile quad-core i7s have also been added in the form of the i7-2860QM and i7-2760QM, both of which feature Hyperthreading (8 threads). Another dual-core i7 is also introduced by way of the i7-2640M with Hyperthreading (4 threads) and 4MB of L3 cache.

On top of the new CPUs, Intel has announced minor price cuts on various desktop Sandybridge CPUs. The price cuts aren’t much to get excited about, and range from 2 to 6 percent.

Model

Cores

CPU clock

Old price

New price

i5-2390T

2

2.7/3.5GHz

$195

$184

i5-2400S

4

2.5/3.3GHz

$195

$184

i5-2405S

4

2.5/3.3GHz

$205

$201

i5-2500T

4

2.3/3.3GHz

$216

$205

i5-2500S

4

2.7/3.7GHz

$216

$205

i7-2600S

4

2.8/3.8GHz

$306

$294

In the meantime, the world is expecting AMD to deliver its new family of AM3+ CPUs with Bulldozer later this month.

Intel reveals 16 new Sandybridge CPUs, cuts current prices << Comments and views

[7

post-13858","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-hardware
["GET
