With the recent announcement of a \u201ccasual mode\u201d for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive still waking nerds in a cold sweat, Valve is anxious to reassure fans that the game they love won\u2019t be doing anything unexpected.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe thing about CS:GO is that it’s a pure, competitive game,” writer Chet Faliszek told Gamasutra<\/a>. “There’s not a lot of the meta-game around it, there aren’t a lot of things in-game that take away from the skill, it’s all about saying, ‘You died because the other guy’s better.'”<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll just put the obvious joke about wallhacks right here. Haha, that was funny.<\/p>\n

“When bringing Counter-Strike to PS3 and Xbox, we wanted to make sure we weren’t ‘noobing’ it, or dumbing it down,\u201d he added. \u201cThe game has an entry point for new players in its Casual Mode, but it’s not ticking off the top players.”<\/p>\n

The game will see cross-platform play between PC and PS3, and Faliszek also confirms that console versions of the game won\u2019t be getting auto-aim – which is a devastating blow, I\u2019m sure, to the PC Master Race\u2019s increasingly limited list of insults about console gamers. Sorry, guys. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n

“We think that if you’re really good with the controller, and you can match the fidelity of movement of the mouse and keyboard, then you’ll hold your own. If not, well, you’ll just be matched with people who play like you,” he explains.<\/p>\n

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be out sometime in 2012.<\/p>\n
