Thanks to the wonders of selective statistic interpretations, we’re happy to report that more and more two-year-olds are downloading digital entertainment.<\/p>\n
This is what a new report from market research company NPD Group tells us (in not so many words) – with the study showing that for every dollar kids aged 2 – 14 spend on entertainment, 21% of it goes towards the digital format.<\/p>\n
The ridiculousness of that age-range aside, the report shows that even though more money is spent on physical products, there is a bigger shift towards digital products when it comes to children’s entertainment; be it movies, music or games.<\/p>\n
“Kids are not skittish to use technology that is available to them, and the convenience and instant gratification afforded by downloading content is alluring to them,” said Anita Frazier, industry analyst, The NPD Group.<\/p>\n
According to the study, most kids are downloading songs, with games and mobile games coming up as second-most popular.<\/p>\n
So if you have a toddler who’s suddenly gone quiet behind your back, don’t worry, he’s probably just rocking Angry Birds on your iPhone.<\/p>\n
If you don’t have an iPhone, well, then you can worry.<\/p>\n
