The ultimate source in everything Battlefield 3 related, BF3blog<\/a>, is reporting that an insider at Valve has tipped them off that EA and Valve are in late-stage talks to bring Battlefield 3 to Steam.<\/p>\n

It was revealed earlier this year that Battlefield 3 would not be released on Steam<\/a> due to EA wanting to maintain its own direct connection to player clients for the purposes of releasing DLC, patches, and for promoting its own community features.<\/p>\n

According to the rumour, EA and Valve are finally close to reaching an agreement that will facilitate the sale of DLC content in a way that satisfies both parties.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year EA pulled Crysis 2 from Steam<\/a>, stating it wants to be able to sell DLC via its own digital distribution service, Origin.<\/p>\n

On one hand it would be great to see Battlefield 3 on Steam. However, if it is released on Steam at the last minute, it’s only going to anger many Steam users who may have already pre-ordered it from another source, but would have preferred to have it on Steam.<\/p>\n

In another last minute change, DICE has confirmed that the PC version of Battlefield 3 will include squad management. This comes after PC gamers were up in arms<\/a> about the lack of this feature.<\/p>\n

Strangely, while the console versions allow players to manually switch between squads, the PC version automatically places players in squads. DICE employee BAZAJAYTEE confirmed in the Battlefield 3 forums<\/a> that players would, “in short answer form,” be able to browse and join squads as they play.<\/p>\n
