While they’re quick to point out that “many folks are playing Rage on PC and not running into issues”, Bethesda have acknowledged the technical problems with the game.<\/p>\n

According to a thread<\/a> that popped up on the Steam forums, some users are experiencing quite a number of technical issues with the PC version of Rage – ranging from graphics cards not working, and Vsync problems to low-quality textures popping up and the game simply crashing.<\/p>\n

Bethesda responded to complaints<\/a> in their blog, saying that the problems can be attributed to driver issues, and that they’re currently working with AMD and Nvidia to resolve them<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to Nvidia’s games and technology editor, Andrew Burnes, a lot of the graphical issues are because of Rage’s Auto-Balancer, which adjusts textures and effects automatically<\/a> (gif image) so that the game never drops below 60fps.<\/p>\n

He posted an article filled with ways to work around the problem<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Driver issues aside, one of the most prominent complaints on the thread seems to be the inability to set custom settings for video cards; something that Bethesda are now aware would annoy PC gamers.<\/p>\n

“We’re currently working on an update that will allow you to more easily make configuration changes… should have more details on that shortly.” they wrote.<\/p>\n
