This is a good news and bad news kind of situation. The bad news – Uncharted 3 isn’t getting a stitch of single-player DLC. The good news? Naughty Dog says this is because they’d rather work on a new game instead.<\/p>\n

While the studio assures us that we’ll be getting co-op and multiplayer content and plenty of post-release support, just like the 2nd iteration of the franchise, single-player is going to remain unchanged.<\/p>\n

Game director Justin Richmond, in an interview with Eurogamer<\/a>, explains, There’s a very specific reason. Whenever we sit down and think we should do some single-player DLC, someone pitches something and we realize – that’s a five hour level.”<\/p>\n

The studio’s community strategist, Arne Meyer, confesses that keeping the team’s ambition at bay can be “difficult”.<\/p>\n

“We’d rather build out another game than we would do episodic content,” Justin Richmond continued. “We’re so small that we can’t afford to have a whole team working on DLC.”<\/p>\n

“That’s why we don’t do it,” said Richmond, “we’d much rather be working on the next game, producing the game quickly and having people play another adventure.”<\/p>\n

If you’re unfamiliar with the kind of manpower used in the creation of these AAA titles, Activision has over 500 employees working on Call of Duty, while Naughty Dog utilizes a comparatively tiny team of 50.<\/p>\n

With all the overflow of ideas, we should all be expecting a diverse experience from Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. We can see for ourselves in less than a month, with the game’s release date set at November 2nd.<\/p>\n
