<\/p>\nDead Rising 2: Off The Record should be hitting SA retail shelves by 21 October 2011, for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC; it is Capcom’s response to fans’ calls for more Frank West.<\/p>\n
The game is essentially a reworking of the same plot of Dead Rising 2 – only this time shoving West into the main role, and adjusting things to revolve around his game world.<\/p>\n

Off The Record is more than Frank West<\/a>, though, and does introduce a few new features, including more weapon combinations, the return of photo mode – as well as a new area to smash zombies in, and an entirely new sandbox gameplay mode.<\/p>\n A number of reviews have come up for the game, netting it a fairly decent scores on Metacritic:<\/a> 72\/100 on both Xbox 360 and PS3, with PC reviews scores still being tallied up.<\/p>\n On GameRanking it carries 73.05% on Xbox 360, and 70.40% on PS3, with PC review averages not yet available.<\/p>\n The biggest criticism about the game seems to be its lack of really bringing anything new to the title since 2010’s Dead Rising 2.<\/p>\n Most reviews place the point-of-purchase at gamers who have yet to play Dead Rising 2, noting this is the version to get.<\/p>\n Have a look at what was said:<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Game Informer<\/span> 9.5\/10<\/p>\n The inclusion of the sandbox mode makes Dead Rising 2: Off the Record more than just a retread with slightly modified cutscenes. By itself, it’s an incentive for Dead Rising 2 players to pick it up. If you haven’t gotten around to playing the sequel yet, this is definitely the version to get. If you’re a massive fan of the series – and of Frank West in particular – it’s still worth picking this up, but even at twenty notes, there’s little to make this an urgent purchase. At a time where games like Dark Souls aren’t afraid to put players through the wringer, it’s disappointing that a title from Capcom of all publishers should feel, much like its doughy protagonist, a little soft around the middle.
