{"id":14938,"date":"2011-10-21T19:50:00","date_gmt":"2011-10-21T17:50:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"the-ps3-may-have-been-hacked-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/playstation\/14938-the-ps3-may-have-been-hacked-again","title":{"rendered":"The PS3 may have been hacked again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Early reports are coming through suggesting that Sony&#8217;s PlayStation 3 has once again been successfully hacked.<\/p>\n<p>Just like the previous successful hack, the new &#8220;JB2&#8221; hack allegedly takes the form of a USB dongle that plugs into the console and effectively bypasses its security features.<\/p>\n<p>Videos of the JB2 dongle in action have been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vH30DpbUkbY\" target=\"_blank\">posted,<\/a> showing somebody plugging the device into the console before powering it up and loading into a custom XMB screen which seems to open up options that should only be available on developer consoles.<\/p>\n<p>If this is as it seems, then the hack should make it possible to run unsigned code on the PS3.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, unlike previous jailbreaks, the JB2 hack does not make it possible to run games from the harddrive.
