Suffering numerous hacks into their networks, PSN in particular, wasn’t a completely horrible thing for Sony.<\/p>\n

Speaking to TechRadar<\/a>, Sony executive, Soichiro Saida, explained that the hacks (and undoubtedly the wide-spread coverage) have “woken up” their dormant customers, and actually brought them back to PSN.<\/p>\n

“We created the welcome back package, which is one of the reasons for the upsurge in activity on the site.”<\/p>\n

Oh, so nothing to do with a multitude of concerned users who feel their account information may have been compromised coming to check it out, right?<\/p>\n

Another plus from the hacks was showing Sony how exploitable their security was, giving them the chance to overhaul the system and fix the error of their ways.<\/p>\n

It takes something special to make a malicious attack that compromised thousands of accounts seem like a positive thing, but Sony feel they’re doing things right this time, and that they’re not alone in their experience.<\/p>\n

“Network companies get hacked all the time – but do they make a noise about it? This is happening all of the time, it happened to us and it is about educating the consumers, making sure that they have their ID protected.”<\/p>\n

Whatever you need to tell yourself to feel better, I guess.<\/p>\n
