Ubisoft exec, Laurent Detoc, has blasted critics for the somewhat less than enthusiastic response to Rocksmith, a game the company recently released after missing that important memo about the entire rhythm genre choking to death on Guitar Hero last year already.<\/p>\n

“As much as they claim they want innovation, they don’t,” he told Gamasutra<\/a>. “What I see when I read the reviews is a lack of enthusiasm for something that is new.”<\/p>\n

“We, as human beings, tend to like what we know. But more importantly, we call ourselves gamers. Are we gamers – or players?”<\/p>\n

“I think the ‘gamer’ label has actually been hurting the industry. As our industry evolves, we need to be more mature and find a way to look at content and judge it as if we were real consumers instead of as gamers.”<\/p>\n

It’s funny if you read it out loud in an exaggerated French accent, although I’m still not quite sure what he’s so angry about – the game has a 77 average on Metacritic, which really isn’t zat bat.<\/p>\n

So when can you expect a MyGaming review?<\/p>\n

Well, at the moment – never, according to our Ubisoft SA contact: “Unfortunately Rocksmith will not be coming to SA at this stage. Hopefully it will be released here sometime in the future but for now it was only released in limited territories.”<\/p>\n

And if you sneaky folks are thinking of importing this game – bear in mind the PAL and NTSC games are region locked due to publishing rights; so do your homework before you decide to get in on the international versions.<\/p>\n
