Valve<\/a> has been putting Dota 2 through its closed beta paces, and it appears they are ready to take on some more recruits.<\/p>\n

“We’ve just finished our first significant expansion of Dota 2 server capacity around the world, and that means it’s time to kick this thing up a notch. Starting this week, we’ll be handing out Dota 2 in increasing volumes. To celebrate, we’re releasing the first part of the official Dota 2 comic, Tales from the Secret Shop,” announced the Dota 2 team over on their blog.<\/p>\n

You can check out the ‘Tales from the Secret Shop’ comic here<\/a>; but before you do that, read on to find out about getting yourself into the Dota 2 beta.<\/p>\n

Valve is running a survey to assess potential Dota 2 beta participants, which includes scoping out your hardware and then filling out a short questionnaire. Valve is looking for a wide spread of hardware in order to test the game, so don’t be too ashamed of your Celeron laptop – it may just get you into the beta.<\/p>\n

To launch the survey, open up Steam<\/a>, and click this link: steam:\/\/takesurvey\/1\/<\/a><\/p>\n

If you have been running Steam for a few days, you may need to close it, open it, and let it update before trying again.<\/p>\n

Windows users: if that’s not working for you, open Steam, copy that link into a Run dialog box, and hit enter.<\/p>\n

Mac users: I have no idea what the equivalent operation would be because I’m not a hipster.<\/p>\n

In the survey you will be asked such soul-searching questions as ‘How much average gold do you accumulate during a game of Dota?’, ‘What is your average level at the end of the match?’, and ‘On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you rate you Dota expertise?’.<\/p>\n

I already chose 10 on that one, so the rest of you nooblets can pick from 9 downwards.<\/p>\n

If you are selected, you will receive two extra copies of Dota 2 beta access that you can give to whomever you like.<\/p>\n

You’ll find the extra copies in the Steam section of your Steam account’s item inventory, and you can use the Steam Trading feature to give them to your friends.<\/p>\n

Be sure to let the MyGaming community know if you are selected so we can get a pool of local gamers going.<\/p>\n
