{"id":15310,"date":"2011-11-03T14:30:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-03T12:30:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T22:00:00","slug":"warhammer-40k-space-marine-ships-1-2-million-units","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/news\/business\/15310-warhammer-40k-space-marine-ships-1-2-million-units","title":{"rendered":"Warhammer 40K: Space Marine ships 1.2 million units"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/11889-THQ-Inc.\" target=\"_self\" title=\"Company Information\">THQ<\/a> has announced that it has, to date, shipped 1.2 million copies of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine across it&#8217;s three release platforms.<\/p>\n<p>The game launched in September, and the announcement was made during a THQ investor call earlier today.<\/p>\n<p>THQ CEO, Brian Farrell, said that the sales figures came in &#8220;slightly ahead of expectations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite the relative success of the new IP, THQ&#8217;s quarterly financial report was generally poor, with the company posting a net loss of $92.4 million.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The same time last year THQ reported a loss of $47 million.<\/p>\n<p>Farrell remains cautiously optimistic going forward, however, saying &#8220;Our two biggest quarters of the year remain ahead of us, and we are focused on execution.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In Q3 we are planning for the largest quarter in our history, in terms of sales and earnings, driven by Saints Row: The Third, the uDraw GameTablet, and WWE &#8217;12.
