In today’s list of delays, it’s the Call of Duty Elite service for PC!<\/p>\n

Beachhead Studios<\/a> boss, Chacko Sonny, dropped the news in an interview with Activision<\/a> community guy, Dan Amrich, saying that not only is the service not going live on launch day, they don’t know when it’s going live at all.<\/p>\n

“We’re as committed as ever to the PC, but the need to ensure a safe PC environment is greater than ever,” he said.<\/p>\n

“It’s really extensive. We need more time to get there, so Elite on PC will not launch on Day 1. We’re working our butts off to make it happen, but we won’t release it until we know that PC gamers can enjoy Elite as it’s meant to be.<\/p>\n

“The issue here is that the PC is an insecure platform. Without a central, trusted resource for stats, a lot of our competition features become unfair. We can’t give away prizes when people can easily cheat their stats. Leaderboards are less fun when a lot of the users are there unfairly.”<\/p>\n

Well, that all sounds very reasonable, but it’s not like the developers only found out about this recently.<\/p>\n

Like, the office manager came in last week saying, “Guys, omg, we’ve just heard the PC is an insecure platform!”<\/p>\n

And everybody was all, like, “:O!”<\/p>\n

And then they were, like, “We have to make Elite secure! WHY DIDN’T WE THINK OF THIS BEFORE?”<\/p>\n

So, yeah.<\/p>\n

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is out next Tuesday, 8 November 2011.<\/p>\n
