<\/p>\nIn an interview with Wired, Skyrim director Todd Howard, revealed that the game will use a quest system that procedurally generates goals for gamers – meaning that there will always be something to do in the world of Skyrim.<\/p>\n
In the interview, he notes that once you’ve completed the “main” quests for each faction in the world, you will still be able to accept randomly generated missions from them.<\/p>\n

What kind of missions?<\/p>\n
Don’t expect anything mind-blowing – but it will be along the lines of fetching ingredients for alchemists, or killing someone for the Dark Brotherhood and things like that; while not the most exciting kinds of missions, the quest structure leaves the game world open for unlimited playtime.<\/p>\n
Howard said that they have put emphasis on environmental story-telling – something they picked up on when developing Fallout 3 – which fills the world with things to do, and secrets to find, that will keep the world interesting.<\/p>\n
Adding to this, there will also be “unlimted dragons”, according to Howard – and we’re sitting with a game that’s sure to be a time-sink of note.<\/p>\n
A massive world, filled with unlimited things to do?<\/p>\n
Sounds good to me.<\/p>\n
Skyrim is landing tomorrow, 11-11-11, and I’m certainly glad I have my pre-order in.<\/p>\n
