Back at E3 in June, Volition announced that the PS3 version of Saints Row The Third would be shipping out with an exclusive mode, featuring the game\u2019s \u201csignature weapon\u201d.<\/p>\n

So what is it? Well, it isn\u2019t, for starters.<\/p>\n

Review copies were sent out last week already, and according to a report over on Joystiq, the PS3 and Xbox 360 disc content is identical.<\/p>\n

Whatever it was that Volition had originally planned has apparently not worked out.<\/p>\n

THQ\u2019s reponse so far has been the usual \u201cNo comment\u201d stuff, although I guess I can see why this is a bit awkward. I mean, they\u2019ve really stiffed their homies on this one.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also not the first time PS3 gamers have been robbed of promised exclusives \u2013 PS3 copies of Battlefield 3 were supposed to include a free copy of Battlefield 1943, but didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, this was also a promise made at E3, so maybe this is all the result of a backstage dare between publishers.<\/p>\n

In other news, the Saints Row The Third launch trailer has been released.<\/p>\n
