In what must surely be a first ever event of its kind, an entire MMORPG has been accidentally nuked during a maintenance procedure.<\/p>\n

And wait, it gets even better \u2013 there were no recoverable backups, so it\u2019s gone permanently, forever and ever.<\/p>\n

According to a report over on IgxPro, the Japanese \/ Korean MMORPG, M2, was going through some kind of \u201cemergency maintenance\u201d on 21 October when code was somehow erased from the game\u2019s databases.<\/p>\n

Game operator Hangame has since shut down the game permanently, offering a \u201cvery humble apology\u201d that totally won\u2019t make up for all the hours players spent grinding XP.<\/p>\n

There does seem to be a bit of doubt about it all, though, with some gamers speculating that the game was simply cancelled because it wasn\u2019t making any money.<\/p>\n

Surely it would be easier to just, you know, cancel it, though.<\/p>\n

Still, now would probably be a good time to backup your stuff, hey. Just in case.<\/p>\n
